Harry, September Pet of the Month
Harry is a new friend of ours who we met just a few months ago. Harry, a usually healthy 8 year old, came to us very sick. He had been vomiting and hadn't eaten for a few days. His parents had exhausted other options and came to us for a second opinion.
After some thorough diagnostic testing, we decided an exploratory surgery was the best option for Harry. We found his intestines to be healthy; however his liver showed hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver). To treat this and because Harry wouldn't eat on his own, we placed an esophageal feeding tube. His owners did a wonderful job feeding Harry every few hours during these sensitive days. This is not an easy procedure for cats, however, Harry was a very good sport about the whole thing. He was soon eating on his own again, and now Harry is the healthy, hungry boy that his parents love.
