Morgan, May Pet of the Month
Miss Morgan is a 5-year old Otterhound. This is a rare breed, which is part of what makes Morgan so amazing. Morgan has had a full and exciting life. She has been a therapy dog, a show dog, a family dog, and most recently Morgan was part of a very interesting procedure. Since Otterhounds are so unusual, their gene pool is not too large. So when Morgan was bred late last year, she was artificially inseminated using 3 different male donors. She is the first Otterhound to participate in this procedure. When her pups were DNA tested, it was determined that 3 of the pups came from one male, and 2 came from another.
In her spare time, Morgan loves to dig up moles and hang out with her mother Otterhound, Xena, and 5 cats (one kitty was adopted from Riverwalk). Morgan is very proud of her accomplishments. She has won 21 Best in Show titles, and took a Group 2 at the Westminister Kennel Club. |
