Chessee Hand - February Pet of the Month
Chessee
is an 8 year old yellow Labrador Retriever. He lives with his parents
on Spring Island and has been coming to Riverwalk Animal Hospital for
the last few years. In January of 2008, Chessee came in to have his
teeth cleaned and to have a couple of benign lipomas removed. The
dental and surgery went well, and Chessee went home with shiny white
teeth. A couple weeks later Chesee came in because the spots where the
lipomas were had begun to swell up with fluid. Dr. O’Quinn placed a
drain and sent Chessee home with some antibiotics. A few days later,
the pockets had filled up again and Dr O’Quinn replaced the drain and
sent him home. The next day he was back, because he decided to pull the
drain out himself! Dr. O’Quinn placed another drain in and instructed
Chessee’s parents to have him wear a T-Shirt to keep the drains safe.
So far that seems to be working well, so hopefully the drains can come
out soon!
Throughout the whole ordeal, Chessee has been a real
trooper! He is such a sweet boy and wags his tail through all of the
poking and prodding. He’s always got lots of kisses for the staff, and
we just love seeing him!
