Madison & Izzy Boyle -
January Pets of the Month
Madison and Izzy are our two youngest family members. Our three 2-legged children live out of town and we would otherwise be empty nesters. Madison and Izzy are both very honored to be named Pets of the Month.
Madison is 6 years old and was adopted when she was 5 months old from college students who realized that Black Lab puppies are a lot of work and full of energy. We realized fairly early on that Madison was special in many ways….. Her human dad has a rare heart condition that is very unpredictable to most, but Madison is able to recognize and alert when his chest pains begin and get someone to help when needed. She can also predict the onset of seizures as we found out with another family member many times.
Izzy is 3 years old and was severely abused as a puppy. We were able to adopt her through a person that rescues abandoned puppies. Izzy was extremely sick and had never been with her mother. Her chances of survival were very slim but we were not giving up! We learned at that time that Madison made a great mom. Madison and Izzy bonded as mother and child, and with the help of our human daughter, Izzy was the only pup to survive from that litter. Since that tough beginning, she has become a happy, slightly neurotic, perpetual 2 year old. She is a lot of fun and helps keep Madison young and not so serious.
Madison recently went through ACL surgery and with great care from Dr. Mitchum and the staff here at Riverwalk Animal Hospital she is back running, playing with Izzy and feeling like a puppy again.
Madison and Izzy both love their walks, Animal Planet and the Dog Whisperer, greeting guests with lots of barking, and going to the beach. They are definitely the “odd couple” that came together through fate. They have helped each other to flourish, enjoy life & make people happy.
Happy New Year! |
