Chloe Nardone -
March Pet of the Month
Chloe is a tough little Jack Russell Terrier that had a health scare last Fall. She became ill and was diagnosed with Leptospirosis, a bacterial disease that is potentially fatal to dogs. They can become infected by drinking, swimming in or walking through contaminated water. Bacteria can enter the bloodstream through a cut in the skin or through mucous membranes (such as eyes, nose or mouth). Humans are at risk too and although rarely fatal, it can cause severe illness. With early detection and round the clock care, Chloe survived and is doing great to this day.
She is unofficially the manager of Painted Oaks Farm and rides the 5 acres with her family on the Kawasaki Mule checking out all the activity. Chloe is in charge of welcoming the delivery trucks, rounding up the barn cats, supervising the feeding of the horses, and watching for wild life that roams through her yard at night. She allows the deer and rabbits but no other kind. She is very much a people dog and claims them as her own, ruling over her housemates – a Cairn Terrier and Golden Retriever.
Chloe is a very much loved member of her family and they are happy to have her around with all her energy, persistence and attitude. Riverwalk Animal Hospital is also thrilled with Chloe’s triumph over Lepto as we consider her a part of our family.
Congratulations to Chloe, our March Pet of the Month |
