Samson, December Pet of the Month
Samson is a five year-old Silky Terrier that we have known for about two years. This July he came to Riverwalk suffering from severe, acute pancreatitis. This is a life-threatening condition that requires IV fluids and days of hospitalization. Generally this illness affects small breed dogs and is brought on when a high-fat or inappropriate diet is fed, or for unknown reasons. Samson was so sick when he came in, that his treatment required a two-week stay on IV fluids. Samson is now doing great. He is happy playing with his sister, Madeline, and enjoying his low-fat diet.
