Buddy and Charlie Brown, July Pets of the Month
This is the story of two amazing felines. We first met Buddy when he came to Riverwalk for the first time a few months ago. Buddy, a 17 year-old Domestic Longhair, was very sick with kidney failure and anemia. He was almost to the point of needing a blood transfusion. Treatment was started immediately. It was touch and go for a while, mainly because Buddy just didn't want to eat. His owners tried everything and eventually it paid off. Now Buddy is doing very well. His dedicated owners bring him to see us three times a week for weight checks and fluid therapy to keep him hydrated and healthy.
Charlie Brown, or C.B. as he's called around here, is an outdoor adventurer. He actually was not seen for 5 years, and then magically appeared back at his owners' home. C.B. is about 12 years old, and is struggling with hypertension and kidney disease. And much like his pal Buddy, he's not too fond of eating. His wonderful owners have tried every type of dish with this finicky feline, and some days he would rather starve than eat. Charlie also comes to Riverwalk a couple times a week for fluid therapy and also just some eating encouragement.
These boys are lucky to have such devoted owners. They would do anything for their pets. These owners also share their generosity to others in need, donating generous sums to help with the treatment of sick animals. We commend
them for their love of all animals and going above the call of duty to help others.
