Cookie, May Pet of the Month
Fifteen year-old Cookie weighed in at 2 1/2 pounds, obviously blind from thick cataracts, and her tongue was always protruding. This is how a good samaritin found her 2 years ago wandering in the road. But to know Cookie is to love Cookie. And that's just what her new mom gave her: lots and lots of love. We got to know Cookie very well in the 2 years we knew her. She always came in wearing hand-made shirts and her own special blankets. Cookie was very spoiled in her last years of life, and no one deserved it more.
Cookie was diagnosed with liver disease, kidney disease, and heart disease.
If that was not enough, she also had a malignant tumor removed last fall.
Even with all these illnesses, Cookie was able to live a comfortable, happy life. She did give quite a few scares over the years, but she always pulled through with flying colors. Eventually though, Cookie's health did fail her.
She passed on peacefully in April of this year.
Cookie's legacy lives on. She is the poster girl for Cookie's Old Toy Dog Rescue Fund, a fund to help other senior, un-adoptable toy dogs. If interested in helping other dogs like Cookie contact Roy at Bark Avenue 342-3647.
